Curved wooden ribs cage a fabric lantern shade, meeting at turned bead finials above and below, so the piece reads as a lantern rather than a shade. Light passes through the fabric as a warm glow and escapes between the ribs in vertical lines. The frame and beads are finished in a dark wood tone that reads against a pale ceiling.
